"Soil and the Soul"
Written by: Mike Molaro
I got a new look.
I bought a hat,
I took my vest out of the closet
cause I think I'm done with all that rock n roll
the drums are too loud,
the kicks too heavy,
the snares too tight,
and the beat aint steady
yeah I think I'm done with all that rock n roll
there are things I wanna say,
not spit or force and I pray that I get there
when I leave this rock n roll
I'd rather play on the foot of some pretty girls bed
than in a concert hall to a thousand deaf fans,
yeah I think I'm done with all that rock n roll
nothing against all those that I played with
nothing against you, my dear friends
this is all aimed at the medium
it's loud and it's obnoxious and it's given me a ringing in my left ear…
…gotta get the hell out before my right one goes too
I wanna sing a folk song,
might have to move to Tecumseh Valley
to learn about the soil and the soul
I wanna sing out to the open blue sky
in a prairie up on a vacant green hill
I wanna be vocalizing about the soil and the soul
you don't get that in this city,
all the back beat and the gritty
I wanna be hearing about the soil and the soul
so I'm sorry if I leave you love
but my real love's on my fingertips
and they're itchin' for the soil and the soul
nothing against all those that I lived with
nothing against you, my dear friends
think its about time that I packed up and I sang/sighed
goodbye rock and roll, and hello to the soil and the soul
